About the Teachers

Cori Adams

Sra. Adams has lived in Minnesota all her life, with the exception of a semester abroad in Spain, where she learned the culture and language through her own immersion experience. While she loves to travel, she also greatly enjoys exploring her home state by camping, canoeing, and hiking through the wilderness with her husband, Chris and daughter, Amelia, a 3-year-old spitfire.

Sra. Adams studied Education and Social Studies and received her teaching license from Hamline University. She taught 3rd grade at ISLA for the previous 8 years, and is eager to expand her own learning and teaching skills through the change of grade level! She has loved working in such a caring and collaborative community and has a passion for literacy that she always strives to instill in her students, as well.
Adriana Maldonado

Sra. Maldonado hails from the great land of Texas. She was born in Mexico but grew up in the border town of Donna, Texas where both languages were regularly used. Sra. Maldonado has a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Communications with a minor of Computer Science and is currently completing her Masters in Education from Hamline University.

In Texas, she taught for 18 years as an bilingual elementary teacher with a focus on servicing the gifted and talented. She moved six years ago with her husband, Rene and her two kids, Gabby, age 13, and Matt, age 19. She loves Minnesota summer and is still adjusting to the cold weather.
